The Trinity Mountain Region

The Great Escape

Have you ever dreamed of being able to disconnect from the big city and visit an outdoor paradise?

The Trinity Mountain Region of Elmore County is the place. The unincorporated areas of Prairie, Pine, Featherville, Rocky Bar, and Atlanta are located along Hwy 20 in the mountainous areas of Elmore County.

These historic communities began with mining and the great gold rush. Many of the original buildings from the 18001900’s are still visible in the area along with the stories of what once was. There are no museums in the area, but its history can be found by speaking with the locals, and with the recorded stories and antiques housed in the Mountain Home Museum. There are so many year round opportunities for this area. The Boise and Sawtooth NationalForests offer camping, water activities at Anderson Lake and the South Fork of the Boise River, hiking, biking, hot springs, hunting, snow sports, and even a local golf course. Wildlife is abundant in this area and hunting season keeps lodging full of outdoor sports enthusiasts and thrill seekers.

This area is considered a remote location with few amenities available, so make sure you are prepared. The communities of Pine, Featherville, Prairie, and Atlanta offer lodging and numerous vacation rentals. Fuel and essential groceries can be found in Pine, and restaurants can be found throughout the area. Rental businesses for outdoor sports equipment can also be found for this region.
